Brian Carter I agree that she messed up and scared her daughter in the process, but not everyone is skilled at controlling their emotions. My parents are great at staying calm and collected in most situations, but my dad has a thing about heights and my mom has an irrational fear of birds, so in situations involving those things, they weren’t always at their best.

Brian Carter It can be. But if you would like a better (or would it be worse?) example, I’m hemophobic, and a couple years ago I worked at a daycare. One day the was some kind of skirmish over dumb kid stuff and one child’s ended up with a head wound. I told he I needed to see it to know how bad it was. When he uncovered his wound the first thing out of my mouth was “Woah that’s a lot of blood. And is that bone?” Needless to say, I caused every child around me to start panicking, and the girl who had been the main adversary in the skirmish was practically inconsolable for the hour or so that lead to her being picked up.
Also I personally had a fairly traumatic experience in my childhood involving a napkin that caught fire, so I would probably have a similar reaction. Hell, this past December I tried using a match because I figured it was high time I stop being scared of them (and I couldn’t find a safety lighter), and the second the flame got close to my fingers I dropped the match like a dumbass.
