The officer has the delegated authority to Ask you anything he wants….he can ask you if you are from Mars or if you are a two-headed chicken. However you have a Right to decline to answer his questions…if he demands your ID from you, then he must have probable cause that a crime has occurred and that he has reasonable Atriculable suspicion that you are the one who committed it. Without a crime there can be no Articulable Suspicion. All lawful investigations must be connected to a real crime or criminal act. Without these there can be no detainment for investigation purposes. Them just wanting to be nosy and question you about your personal business or your comings and goings is simply them trying to go on a fishing trip hoping that they can elicit some information from you that somehow might jam you up for some reason. The best thing to do is not answer any of their questions.
