Dr. Cheddafununda are you seriously suggesting that a witnesses testimony is considered hearsay? The officer said he saw no seatbelt… Not that he heard that someone saw no seatbelt…
I don’t really get that one… He was pulled over for not wearing his seatbelt; gets asked for I.D; then tells the cop to call his supervisor and demands to see 3 forms of I.D????? So if I get pulled over for speeding, I can demand 3 forms of I.D and demand a supervisor???? WTF????
Ramone Bills I cannot speak for the three forms of I.d. part but some cities have local laws that could adhere to this right. It is his right to demand a supervisor to a scene if he feels an officer is being unjust and going beyond his limits if the law. In the case of a seatbelt, I would say hearsay is valid if other witnesses can contradict the statement.

NukaCola Quantum The policy is for them to state why they pulled the driver over FIRST. The cop was lying about “I haven’t got to that yet”. You’re supposed to give the reason you pulled the driver over before requesting documents. It’s just common sense. Not that it’s common anymore.

First time I see someone getting a ticket and saying: “appreciate it!”
I’m sure he appreciated the civility of the whole thing and not the ticket itself.
The ticket was an easy ticket to take care of. All he had to do is wait, get another Officer’s signature, send in the ticket, and it’s done. The driver made a mistake and knew it. He wasn’t pissed, neither was the Officer. It was a good stop. Being pulled over doesn’t always equate to the driver doing something bad, sometimes it’s an informative stop; for example, explaining how a tag or plate needs to be readjusted so it can be clearly seen (which happened to me).
That cop was just being civilized, and thats what people appreciate. Not some dud who abuses their power

No cops were owned in the recording of these clips. At least the semi-educated rabble-rouser at 14:00 knew what Article 18, 241 242 means. Except operating a motor vehicle on gov’t roadways isn’t a civil right and they need to show ID like everyone else.
So if they are on a public road and not committing any crime they are required to show there id’s?? I’ve always been told if you’re not committing a crime you have no reason to give out your information.

Niko actually i had just asked my fiance which is a cop and one of the good ones that ppl like and she yes they do! They are suppose to say “do u know why u were pulled over” and it goes from there then they ask for you i.d. and all of that.
Last Time I got pulled over The Cop came to my window said he was Officer Smith The Reason I Pulled Over was Because you Didn’t stop at the Stop Sign Can I have Your Drivers License and Registration. He left and Came back.

Here’s some advice. The government/courts presume that every citizen knows the law. So I’d hope you damn well know the law and your rights because if you’re ever in legal trouble, ignorance of the law is not a defense since the courts have a presumption that you do know it. So instead of ramping on people for knowing the law, you should go ahead and educate yourself instead. Nothing that passenger said was wrong, he should’ve been more patient however.

The guy should have asked the first cop if HE was a lawyer. To which he would have had to say no. Then he should have said, “But, your job is to enforce the law. So, if you’re not a lawyer how can you know what the law is?” Then the cop would have said something like it’s his job. Then he could have said, “So, it’s possible for you to not be a lawyer and to know what the law is. But, it’s not possible for anyone else who isn’t a lawyer to know what the law is. Interesting interpretation of reality you’ve got going on over there, officer.”
And one time at band camp. The guy thought he was going to be a hero. Even after all of that, he didn’t get a ticket…………. Cop was a real prick huh?
