People who let animals play with multirotors (except maybe the really tiny ones) should not have either. The propellers on a typical consumer drone like a DJI phantom may be plastic, but they’re fairly sharp, and spin at several thousand rpm. They can and will go straight through skin and require stitches. There are plenty of photos of people with their hands, arms, or faces shredded by these machines.
Fortunately, the operators of the larger drone at 1:30 were smart enough to keep the propellers stationary: that one could easily have broken or even severed a cat’s leg.
The same goes for dogs, by the way. While a cat is more likely to attempt to hit a flying drone with its paws, a dog will try to catch it in its mouth, risking injuries to its tongue, face, or eyes.
If you want to use an RC vehicle as a cat or dog toy, get something like a Sphero, or for a flying vehicle get one of the “flying sphere” toys, and use some kind of mesh to ensure that a cat’s paw cannot reach through the gaps in the frame and contact a propeller.
The ones getting injured i assure you are not being posted. Not on a compilation like this.
Take a drone. Kick up the speed. Put your finger next to it, and let it cut RIGHT through the epidermis. You will most likely need stitches. But of course, you wouldn’t do that. Why would you?
Now why would you do it to a cat? You can easily get protective coverings for the blades, usually styrofoam ones, or plastic encased blades, so when it hits objects it doesn’t damage the blades (or damage a cat, win win). No one is being judgmental here but you. Just proper safety for our cats that we love.
